Help for Homeschooling Families

Each semester classes are offered for homeschool students taught by a variety of teachers. These classes meet in the Westminster Presbyterian Church building in Kingsport Tennessee. Please contact the listed class instructor for more information about the classes you are interested in.

2019 Spring Semester—Homeschool Classes

Influential Books of the Renaissance, Reformation and Modernity

Teacher: Steven Warhurst
Schedule: Starts September 10 2018. Meets Monday 9:00 am to 11:00 am. (Continuing from Fall Semester)

This class is designed to help high school students read some of the most influential books written in the past 500 years. They will learn to evaluate these works from a biblical perspective and have opportunities to develop their reasoning and rhetorical skills.

Speech, Debate, and Storytelling

Teacher: Steven Warhurst
Schedule: Starts September 5, 2018. Meets Wednesdays 1:15 pm – 2:45 pm (Continuing from Fall Semester)

This class will explore what Aristotle and Cicero had to say about speech and debate with lots of hands-on practice. We will wrap up the year with an introduction to the art of storytelling. A working knowledge of categorical and propositional logic will be helpful, but is not required.

Our starting classes are an introduction to seeing and drawing the world in a fresh way. We will learn the classic foundations of hand-eye coordination, proportion, shading, and composition as we build critical and creative thinking skills. Our goal is to appreciate God and His creation as we create graphite art! Suitable for ages 12 to adults.

GICT M11—Pre-Calculus w/ Trigonometry B

Advanced high school math which simultaneously prepares the student to pass the corresponding CLEP exam (Pre-Calc and/or College Algebra).  Pairs with GICT M11 Pre-Calculus with Trigonometry A.
